In a major metropolitan area, construction was underway for a large and modern County Juvenile Detention Center. The existing facility, which had stood in its location for nearly five decades, relied on a fragile metal cabinet attached to the wall in the warden’s office as its key control system. Unfortunately, due to the system’s outdated nature and the building’s age, there were no software capabilities to track key access or duration. Recognizing the insufficiency and ineffectiveness of this setup, the director of the soon-to-be-completed, multi-million-dollar facility was determined to implement a superior key control solution. Their vision was to establish a comprehensive “key trail” system, enabling thorough auditing of key assignments and durations. The objective was to inaugurate the new County Juvenile Detention Center with a robust key control system that allowed for key assignments, specific time-based access permissions, and meticulous tracking of every key within the facility.
The County Juvenile Detention Center found the perfect solution in a Key Systems Security Asset Manager (SAM) that fulfilled all their requirements and exceeded expectations. RA-Lock presented a demonstration showcasing the extensive capabilities of our GFMS software, leaving them convinced of its effectiveness. To accommodate future expansion, a 96-position SAM was installed, providing ample room for growth. Furthermore, we conducted comprehensive training sessions for the jail staff to ensure they were well-versed in operating the system.
Once the SAM was installed and the designated administrators and users received comprehensive training, their satisfaction was evident. The state-of-the-art key control system, complete with a comprehensive “key trail,” was successfully implemented in the new multi-million-dollar facility. Notably, the system also incorporated a crucial feature: it sent notifications when assigned key(s) were not returned within specified timeframes, a vital aspect for the facility’s operations. With the industry’s top-tier key control system in place, the County Juvenile Detention Center was now well-equipped to ensure optimal security and efficiency.
