If you own a business, or manage a commercial property, then you know how important security is. Not only do you need to protect your assets, but you also need to protect your employees and customers.  If you’re looking for a way to improve the security, efficiency, and budget of your business, then a keyless system is a great option. Here are just a few of the benefits of having a keyless entry system.

What are the benefits of a keyless entry system?

Increased security

A keyless entry system adds an extra layer of security to your home or business. With a keyless system, you can manage access remotely to control who has access to your property and when they have access. You can also change the access codes as needed to further secure your property. Many types of hardware can offer lock scheduling options, meaning the owner can set a timeframe where locks are not permitted to be opened, allowing complete control of the building.

Convenience

A keyless entry system is much more convenient than traditional keys. With a keyless system, you don’t have to worry about losing your keys or having them stolen. You can also give temporary access codes to visitors or service providers without having to give them a key to your property. NO REKEYS NEEDED! Since the name keyless entry infers “no keys”, a huge benefit of these systems is they are no longer compromised by the loss of a key. While many keyless entry locking systems have the capability to have a mechanical key override, it isn’t necessary. If the desired keyless entry locking hardware has a mechanical key override, it is not necessary to provide these keys to anyone. They can be stored by the owner or secured at a single control point.

Easy to install and Affordable

Keyless entry systems are relatively easy to install. Since many options are available with battery power, rather than hard-wiring power to the door and hardware, the cost of installation is drastically reduced. As is the overall time spent as permits may not be required for the majority of options as part of the construction or renovation project. These features can save thousands of dollars on a build budget.

Lock Down Capabilities

It is unfortunate that we have to consider it these days, but the possible need to lock down a wing of a facility or entire building could be a crucial need in some applications.  Many keyless entry systems include remote locking features or fabs that lock a single door.

Types of Keyless Entry Systems

There are several types of access control and locking systems that could be considered “keyless”. In general, we have HID Card or “Badge” readers and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi capable locking hardware.

HID Card or Badge reader technology has been around for decades.  Electronic hardware unlocked or accessed by swiping your card or badge. These systems rely on a support network of access control software and electrified physical door hardware.

Bluetooth/Wi-Fi capable locking hardware can provide app based or Wi-Fi access, which might be an ideal solution for a single home, multifamily housing to large commercial or office properties.  These systems incorporate physical locking hardware, battery powered to wired electrified hardware, with an app or network based software.  They can be used in combination with a card/badge reader, biometrics, cameras, mechanical key override and remote release options.
